About the fishery

Llyn Tegid offers permit fishing for coarse fish and seasonal trout, administered by Eryri National Park. Lake permits are sold through foreshore pay-and-display machines; BDAA season members have lake rights, while an ordinary BDAA day ticket does not cover the lake. Several published rules need reconciliation before presenting detailed rod or fish-retention advice.

Fishing rules

Rules and conflicts

  • Unattended rods: Authority-linked terms prohibit leaving baited/hooked rods unattended.
  • Biosecurity: Authority requires equipment cleaned before and after use.
  • Eel gwyniad: Authority terms prohibit removal of eels and gwyniad; currentNRWpage also prohibits eel removal.
  • Rod limit conflict: Club page says maximum2rods; authority-linked undatedPDF describes up to4 subject to licence. No definitive current venue rod limit promoted.
  • Livebait and retention: Older club/terms discuss livebait and fish removal. These are retained as unresolved source claims, not published instructions; check current byelaws/owner terms.
  • Current regulator context: NRW specifically says Llyn Tegid should be treated like rivers for coarse-fish removal because of multiple ownership; no generic stillwater retention rule substituted.

  • Safety: Follow warden signs, changing water levels, algal warnings and biosecurity requirements.
